AI Overviews is already available in France
Google announced the French launch on 22 July 2026. The task is no longer to prepare for a hypothetical date, but to observe which queries show a generated answer, which sources appear and what happens to impressions, clicks and enquiries.
Generated answers do not appear for every search. Their format, visible links and effect on clicks vary by query, device and date. A market average cannot predict the result for one SMB.
Start with queries that matter to the business
Group queries by intent: learn, compare, choose a supplier, request a price or take action. Check a meaningful sample and record date, country, device, presence of a generated answer and displayed sources.
In Search Console, compare impressions, clicks, positions and landing pages over a consistent period. Add site conversions. A click decline does not prove that AI Overviews caused it; seasonality, competition, ranking changes and demand also matter.
Make pages useful and verifiable
Google’s official guidance for generative features requires no special file or markup. Existing fundamentals still apply: accessible content, useful answers, clear internal links, understandable sources and important information available as text.
Explain who is speaking, the experience behind the advice and its limits. Date information that may change and genuinely update a page before changing its date. There is no ideal length, universal publishing cadence or guaranteed citation from a FAQ.
FAQs, structured data and GEO
A visible FAQ can help decision-making and explain terminology. Structured data must match visible content; it cannot force Google to display or cite a page. Do not build a 2026 strategy around a FAQ rich result.
GEO can describe work on clarity, evidence and visibility in generated answers. It does not replace technical SEO, authority, customer insight or conversion. Ask how visibility will be measured and connected to commercial intent.
Evaluate evidence without inventing causality
A larger keyword count between two dates is not automatically a GEO result. Query sets, countries, devices and tools must be comparable. Separate the observation from possible explanations such as content, links, demand or tool changes.
Keep a stable query cohort, archive visible results and measure enquiries. Publish limitations. Remove claims that cannot be reproduced rather than turning them into marketing evidence.
An SMB action plan
Improve pages with purchase, comparison or contact intent first. Make offers, prices, evidence, authors and terms easy to understand. Link guides to the matching commercial pages and track query/page pairs over time.
Create a new page only for a distinct question. Near-duplicate variants can weaken understanding and complicate internal linking. The priority is a reliable page that helps someone decide.
At Synerium, Studio is a scoped website project financed directly by Synerium over 36 months, with launch fees. Source code can be provided on request from month 12 without cancelling the remaining payments; full ownership transfers at month 36. Infinity covers recurring needs: design from Starter, marketing and SEO/GEO from Premium, development from Ultimate. Scope and active capacity depend on the selected plan. An unlimited request queue does not mean a full-time team or unlimited output. Current prices, commitments, exclusions and third-party costs are detailed on the offer pages.
